# Session Enrollment Guide

Participants may enroll only when verified, session enrollment is open, the session is published, and the selected session does not conflict with existing active enrollments.

Capacity checks occur inside a MySQL transaction with row-level locking on the selected session. If capacity is full, the first-pass API places the participant on a waitlist.
